Seven Stories Press attended the 2025 New Voices New Rooms (NVNR) Southern regional bookseller conference in Atlanta, hosted by the good folks at SIBA and NAIBA. Here’s a report from Brett Gregory of Two Dollar Radio who ran the table for Seven Stories Press in the Independent Publishers Caucus (IPC) area.

Alabama Village author—J. Malcolm Garcia, who was just shortlisted for the 2025 Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award, one of the nation’s leading literary prizes—participated in the Indie Author Reception at NVNR in Monday evening, where he talked with booksellers and signed advance copies.

A narrative nonfiction account of an impoverished and often violent neighborhood south of Mobile, Alabama Village is told through intimate, tender, and gritty profiles of its people as they navigate immense loss and an unassailable determination to overcome their circumstances.

Malcolm spent two years in Alabama Village and became close to John and Dolores Eads, a devout Christian couple who established Light of the Village church, and Da’Cino Dees who grew up in the community and now works at the church who are profiled in the book.

We also exhibited on the tradeshow floor. Thanks to all of the booksellers who visited our display, picked up advance copies, and talked about the exciting bookstore happenings in the region. We were so glad to meet so many wonderful booksellers who were interested in our forthcoming titles, in addition to seeing some old friends. Here's Avid Bookshop bookseller Mikey LaFave showing off a Two Dollar Radio tattoo!
