MARJANE SATRAPI was a beloved Iranian and French graphic novelist, film director, and children's book author. Born in Rashat, Iran, in 1969, she lived in Paris beginning in early adulthood until her death in 2026. Her best-known works include the graphic novel Persepolis and its Academy Award-winning film adaptation; the graphic novel Chicken with Plums; and the anthology Woman, Life, Freedom
